Editor’s Picks: Simulate’s Plant-Based Dino Nuggets Taste Like Childhood Nostalgia

Like a Happy Meal, but wayyyy better.

If You or Someone You Love Is Vegetarian…

You’ve probably seen or heard about Simulate’s Nuggs: perhaps the most convincing mock-meat chicken nuggets on the market. As a plant-based queen of nearly a decade, I’ve probably tried every mock meat on the market, and after thorough product testing, I can say that Simulate’s nuggets are the best of the best.

Simulate currently offers four main products:

  1. Nuggs
  2. Spicy Nuggs
  3. Dino Nuggs
  4. Tenders

All four options are certifiably delicious, but I’m a sucker for the Dino Nuggs. Here’s why…

Firstly, the packaging is absolutely adorable. The dino-shaped nuggets are a fun and playful twist on a classic childhood favorite. The box features a colorful illustration of a T-Rex holding a nugget in its mouth, which immediately caught my eye. I appreciated how the design conveyed a sense of playfulness that would appeal to both children and adults.

However, the real magic happens when you take a bite. The texture is spot on – crispy and crunchy on the outside, with a tender and juicy center. Unlike some plant-based alternatives that can be dry or mealy, these nuggets have a satisfying and substantial bite. I was particularly impressed with how well they held up to dipping sauces. Whether I was using ketchup, barbecue sauce, or ranch, the nuggets didn’t become soggy or fall apart.

And the flavor? It’s like taking a trip down memory lane. The savory, slightly salty taste is reminiscent of the frozen nuggets I used to devour as a kid. (Anyone else remember Rainforest Cafe?) The seasoning is well balanced. I could taste a hint of garlic and onion, which added depth to the overall profile. I also appreciated that there was no weird aftertaste or lingering flavor in my mouth after eating, like a lot of plant-based options.

But the best part? These nuggets are entirely plant-based. Made with soy protein, they pack a protein punch without any of the animal products. As someone who is conscious of my carbon footprint, it’s reassuring to know that I can enjoy a delicious snack without contributing to animal agriculture. Their nuggets are also free from artificial preservatives, colors, and flavors, which is a big plus in my book.

Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with Simulate’s plant-based Dino Nuggs. They satisfy my cravings for a childhood classic while aligning with my values as a plant-based eater. With their commitment to sustainability and flavor, I have nothing but great things to say a about Simulate.

If you’re craving a bit of childhood nostalgia, run, don’t walk to your local grocery store. Simulate’s Dino Nuggs are about to be your new favorite thing.
